Project Mercury
Initiated in 1958, completed in 1963, Project Mercury was the United States' first man-in-space program. The objectives of the program, which made six manned flights from 1961 to 1963, were specific:
To orbit a manned spacecraft around Earth;
To investigate man's ability to function in space;
To Recover both man and spacecraft safely.

This White House press photograph mage of Mercury 7 meeting with President John Kennedy and First Lady Jackie at the White House. John Glenn was not present that day. The President can be seen sitting in his rocking chair with pillow to ease his back pain resulting from WW2 injuries (PT-109). Hand signed by Wally Schirra & Scott Carpenter who have both added their mission designations. A most unique image. One per person - less than 6 available.

This image showing Liberty Bell 7 resting on the ocean floor just as it was found by Curt Newport on 5/1/99 at a deph of 15,000 feet. This is a full frame uncropped image of an 8'x 10" photo.
It is authentically hand signed by:
Guenter Wendt who adds, "off to space, 7/21/61 and adds "Padleader".
Jim Lewis, Recovery Pilot who adds, "Claimed by the deep" and "pilot, Hunt Club 1"
Curt Newport, Recivery Expedition Leader who inscribes, "Found!, 5/1/99"
All three signers were onboard when Newport found the Liberty Bell 7 resting on the ocean floor on that fateful day in 1999.
This is an absolutely unique offering from Farthest Reaches that will not be found anywhere else. An amazing piece of LB7 memoribilia.

Hand Signed Personal Note from Glenn, Carpenter & Schirra
This folder at one point contained some photos being passed around between the Mercury Astronauts for pioneer manned space program luminary William Todd. Todd was having his photos passed around, signed and returned.
On the inside of the folder you can read Todd's personal note and on the outside, Schirra, Glenn and Carpenter hand have each hand written their personal comments.
It would seem that the photos inside may have been the classic image of the group in front of the T-38 with each wearing different boots but since they are long gone there's no way to know with certainty.
This most interesting item never meant to be seen by the massess would make a great conversation piece for your space autograph collection.
